Butterfly Sanctuary - Bohol, Philippines
Our next stop on our trip through Bohol was at the Butterfly Sanctuary. Here scientists work to help preserve and increase the numbers of the island’s native butterfly and moth populations. Extensive breeding of the various species is also done at the facility. The sanctuary itself serves to educate the public on the butterfly and moth life cycle, the various species found in the Philippines, and what can be done to help protect them from threats they may face due to decreasing habitats. Inside a small, netted enclosure you can get an up-close introduction to several of the species. Our tour guide was extremely helpful and entertained all of our questions.
