Healthy Recipe: Citrus Water + Tea


Drinking warm lemon water in the morning is a great way to start the day. I just love adding any citrus to water - warm or cold. Staying hydrated on the road is really important, especially in the heat of Southeast Asia! So we always stock up on water and (if you or your hotel has a hot pot) boil water in the morning and add lime (much more common to find in Asia). Soda water can be extremely refreshing too:) If you are really lucky, you will find a fresh juice bar (like The Hive - found in Siem Reap, Cambodia). I'm talking about FRESH, REAL juice, NOT the canned stuff or the the fruit smoothies that you see a ton of street vendors selling in Southest Asia! Most fruit smoothies from street vendors are loaded with sugary syrups, & milk. To find hidden gems like The Hive, just google "juice bar" in the area you are visiting. If nothing turns up google "vegetarian" restaurant and you might get lucky. Otherwise, always ask for "No Milk and No Sugar" when ordering from a street vendor. Basically it's just ice and blended fruit, which is definitely refreshing and the next best thing to a true fresh juice.
